Cara Nelson
Trustee
Cara got her license a year after her son and was the first in her family to purchase a BMW motorcycle, a 2016 F700GS. Her passion for BMW soon inspired her husband and son to join the BMW GS family. They have taken advanced rider and off-road courses, regularly moto camp, and explore Vermont’s Class 4 roads on their GS bikes. Her motto is, “The road less traveled is often the most awesome.” She and her husband and son aim to ride more parts of the BDR in Vermont and other states.
Her long-distance backpacking experience and love of riding Vermont back roads on her GS perfectly complement each other, enhancing her sense of adventure. This passion has sparked her enthusiasm for long-distance riding, including a 3,829-mile journey to Nova Scotia and Newfoundland.
Based in Vermont, Cara brings over two decades of web design, development, marketing, and tech expertise to the BMW Riders Association. She also has extensive experience in nonprofit event organizing and fundraising, making her skills valuable on and off the road.
Cara’s journey with the BMW Riders Association began thanks to Jill, a board member who made her feel welcome and part of the family. Inspired by this sense of community and camaraderie, Cara joined the board to help foster connections and bring fresh perspectives to the association.
Whether coding or embarking on new adventures, Cara always focuses on creating meaningful connections. When she’s not immersed in her work, you’ll find her cherishing family motorcycle rides across New England and Canada or embracing the great outdoors through her adventurous spirit.
