Someone stated earlier that (regarding the car clubs) the smaller organization merged when the local chapters no longer saw value in both clubs (or something to that effect). They also stated that that would not happen here because so many local clubs belong to both organizations.
But if I look at the chartered clubs in Texas that belong to both national organizations I see that the RA lists 2, the MOA lists 10. I know for a fact that many Texas clubs have not renewed thier RA charter. If this trend holds nationally it would tend to indicate that the RA may be going the way of the ACA (the other BMW car club).
And, since the RA depends on the local clubs to host thier national rally that statistic would not seem to bode well for the future of the RA either.
The MOA is stressing the inportance of the local clubs (to the national organization) while the RA doesn’t seem to so much.
As individuals we may feel that both clubs have relevance but as those folks grow older and cease being active where is the RA going to get it’s support? If the clubs don’t see value in promoting the organization who is left to promote the RA?

Any pics of the camping area? I went online and looked up articles on the location of the rally (the energy park) and it says it’s a closed horse/dog race track that’s been closed and unused for several years. The only picture is of a rundown, weed infested building with a leaking roof. This raises questions about the camping and facilities (restrooms and showers). Any more info?

No, you’re not the only member, but you and I may be the only ones reading this forum.
We have several members in the San Antonio area as well as in Austin area. I think part of the problem is that the RA has not been too vocal about promoting thier forum so not many folks are logged on. That and the fact that there are so many BMW related forums that nobody can be on them all so many folks just keep track on a couple.
There is also the issue that mnay new riders (to BMW) don’t even know who the RA is while almost all are aware of the MOA.

    Ben,

What do you know of about next years rally. I had to leave Houghton early so if any announcement was made concerning next year, I missed it.
