The Hawks stadium is immediately to the north of the rally grounds and is easily within walking distance. I’ve been working with one of the marketing reps with the Boise Hawks to line up some sort of special for the BMWRA rally attendees. At a minimum we will be able to pass out, to those seriously interested as they are limited in number, ticket vouchers for Thursday and Friday night’s games. The vouchers will allow you to purchase home plate or 3rd baseline tickets (in the shade) for $7.50.
If there is enough interest generated (PLEASE speak up if you are) I am trying to secure a group special for our rally-goers. It will be comprised of an AYCE picnic of burgers, dogs, chix breast, baked beans, coleslaw, potato salad, dessert, Pepsi products, BEER, a reserved seat for the game (down the 3rd baseline), and a Boise Hawks ball cap. The cost will be $22.00. I can only do this if we have at least 30 people.
None of the following is set in stone but the rep is trying to determine the feasibility of: one of our rally-goers throwing out the first pitch, group recognition by the announcer, ride some of our bikes around the bases before the game or during the 7th inning stretch, etc.. The games are always entertaining and what better thing to do on a lazy summer evening? If I have time I will definately slip away for one of the games. —rick
Having not registered online I can only speak from my understanding of the intent of the confirmation note you received. The auto-reply is structured to address a single rally registrant and doesn’t compensate for multiple regsitrants at one time, as you have done. You are correct: for yourself and your pillion you need to have registered two attendees, the same applies to the BBQ. Thanks for using the online registration. Look forward to meeting you in July. —rick
I received the email mentioning the on site “dry” RV camping and the other campground that is a short walk from the rally grounds (how far is a “short” walk)?
Also, are there any nearby hotels?[/QUOTE]
Not sure if Anton was able to provide you the information you needed so thought I might be able to help. I live in Boise and am very familiar with the rally grounds. The RV camping will be a the On The River RV Park, located immediately north of the grounds. It is actually part of the Expo Idaho facility and is along the Boise River. A fence and gate seperate the RV park from the grassy camping area those of us in tents will be using. From the gate to the center of it all (which I think is the vendor sites, but I’m biased) it is a 150 yd. walk. Most of the motels/hotels near the rally grounds are up the road ~1-4 miles. If you choose to stay at the RV park, there is a link on the 2006 RAlly page for reservations. The park has sites with full hook-ups and some without.
Don’t forget to bring your fishing poles. The section of the river along the RV park is on of the best sections for trout fishing. Can’t say for sure right now, but in the past the Idaho Dept. of Fish and Game has released adult steelhead in the river in this area. I’ll talk with some of my buddies at IDFG to see if this is going to happen around the time of the rally. 🙂 —rick
