No mention was made of armour, or lack of armour in the demonstration. :dunno
i am inclined to call bs here…. :skep
when a key word in the name of one club (owners) is taken and used in a near derogatory fashion (not just owners) and juxtaposed to a key word from the second club’s name (riders) and emphasized with italics… it’s a pretty clear attempt to differentiate the second club from the first club.
it reads like the second club is trying to take the high ground on “riding.” this is not only innaccurate, it’s unproductive to club life in general and to the RA in particular.
the paragraph from the editorial substantiates this even further, claiming first-to-market. whatever.
there are (and have been, btw) SO MANY good reasons why the RA is a great club that we should not have to position ourselves against other clubs in the community.
we just need to find the right words. :biggrin
As a member of both clubs, I totally agree with Ian’s postion.September 3, 2010 at 3:44 pm in reply to: WARNING! Read this before you depend on your SPOT device to get you rescued #62245
Bob, thank you for posting this information here as well over at the MOA. I have considered picking up a SPOT. With your recent experience, I will be wiser using it (when I get one next summer). Of course, maybe a satellite phone would be the way for me to go. – Paul
+ Beautiful country (like KY or WVA with a NE accent); great friends, riding, and weather; level camping; vintage display; YB coffee; and that Right Attitude.
– Creepy third world venue, few vendors and sessions, expensive beer, lousy acoustics, and the disappearing shower van.
As a RA member, I have other rallies for context but this one will do nothing to attract potential new members. Having said that, I had a great time. Thanks to all the volunteers who made it happen!
This is a concise summary of this year’s RA Rally. May next year’s RA Rally improve on this year’s many short comings.
At the closing ceremonies we were told between 1500 and 1600 people attended. Of the three RA Rallies that I have attended, this attendance was very sparse.
 Still waiting…….
Likewise. Waiting for mine here in Ontario.
I parked the R1100 about six weeks ago. Figure I’ve got two days left of riding on the K. This Wednesday it’s going to get warm (low 40s) so I’ll take it for a short ride and then change the oils, park and cover it. I’m busy the following week and it’s only a matter of time before the snow arrives. Can’t complain though. It’s been a very mild November here in Ontario. Two weekends ago, I put about 900 km on the bike. It was great riding weather. Last year the bike got packed up at the end of the first week of November because of the snow that came and never left until the end of March. Glad I’ve got my skiing membership.
From my reading of the information, are we not going to be staying in the college dorm rooms? I read “no circus tents” and interpreted that to mean we would be abandoning the tents for this rally. Who is in the “know” who can enlighten me?
With respect to your buzzing noise, I have two IPODS. The older one had a lot of buzzing while being used on the bike but the newer one did not. Hence I put it partially down to the hard drive on my older unit. Unfortunately my Big Ears do not block as much extraneous noise as do my regular disposable earplugs. That requires turning up the music volume to compensate for the wind noise, which in turns just compounds the riding noise problem. I haven’t used mine for a couple of years as they were never properly fitted to my ears, despite two molds being made. I would never recommend this company.
