I plan on leaving Asheville, NC, riding to Labrador and New Foundland and then returning via the Rally. Scenic enough for ya??:)
The rally will be right on my route as I head back home from my trip to Labrador/Newfoundland!!!!! :hurray
Besides the MOA, to much stuff going on in July that books up the best places. There are plenty of good places available after Labor Day when schools start in most of the country. Either then or May before school is out.
That is exactly my problem!! I am a teacher and I have never been able to attend an RA rally because of the dates. I was going to attend this years, but at the MOA I found out my father-in-law passed away and had to attend the funeral in Germany the week of the RA National.
HU also had their Meeting in North Carolina after school started and attendance was down by about 30%.
I won’t be able to make the MOA in Oregon and it seems I won’t ever be able to make RA National. Oh, well… Think I’ll ride up to Labrador!! 🙂
How is this for irony?!? I live less that ten miles from the Biltmore Estate and will not be able to attend at least two days of the rally. I am a teacher (so I have all summer to ride) and schools in this area are still in session in early June.
This also conflicts with the Airhead Rally in Ferguson, NC the same week end. It’s hell living in motorcycle heaven!!!
Yea Deb! 🙂 Thank you for all your hard work. It is much appreciated that you have a job like all of us but put in many hours working for free to benefit our RA members.
I agree!! I was in no way complaining or criticizing anyone. I just found it ironic because I practically live at the front gate to Biltmore. The main problem we have living in this area is deciding which of the gazillion fantastic roads to ride. But then, that is a wonderful problem to have!:D
As I recall, I went to the Hoot the last year it was in Asheville and the new mayor was not a motorcycle fan and worked to get rid of both the Hoot and the Shriners.
I remember that. If I remember right, the cops were instructed to give parking tickets at the maximum rate. The next year the rally was moved to Knoxville.
When coming to Asheville one must remember that it is known as the San Francisco of the East. VERY liberal, VERY hippy. You can literally smell people under 25 🙁 Also that girl you invite back to your tent may not be a girl after all.
Good points. Not a bad road within 300 miles. Also, the town has about 5 microbreweries and they are very well supported by the locals. I am a beer lover and I have to say Asheville has the best beer in the U.S. Not a bad road or beer around these parts, not a bad place to live, eh? 😎
Nothing official is known yet. But, rumor is that the 2007 Rally will be in the Asheville, NC area. One location was in the works but the venue apparently had a scheduling problem. Other locations are being looked at in the next couple of weeks. Dates might be either June or September. I prefer September myself. Of course nothing is official and an announcement definitely will not be made untill the i’s are dotted, the t’s are crossed and the ink is dry. I am not in the decision making loop, this is only a rumor from several very good sources. Ssh! don’t tell anybody!
Great! We could ride over to Fontana for old times sake!!
