    Hi Mike,

You should be able to edit your signature.  Follow the menu selections, first click on Welcome – Log in, then Update Forum Info, then Edit, then Account.  A box will be down the page a bit for you to enter your signature info.  Then all the way at the bottom,  hit save.  You should be all set.

Strange.  I have no idea why that’s happening.  One of the page admin types will have to look into that.  Sorry you’re having issues.

I would vote for the RT, but I’m biased…

I think there are several reasons for this most likely, and I think we don’t understand them.  I’ve started my own informal poll at my work (we have a motorcycle community actually complete with an internal web page) to see what my co-workers who ride think along with some other non-riders.  It’s the non-riders perspective that I tihnk will be theo most interesting.  One point that has come out already is that for many youngter people, younger being defined as younger than me, there is not as much interest in cars as my generation had.  Older people (again defined as older than me, very scientific) had a much greater interest in cars.  This seems to initially translate to motorcycles as well.  We”ll see what comes from the conversations…

So I went and asked a bunch of my younger non-riding friends why they don’t ride and what might interest them.  The top reasons they don’t ride now were:

    1. Too dangerous
    2. No interest
    3. Too expensive
    4. Most friends don’t ride
    5. Season is too short

Then I asked them what it might take to get them interested.  Almost everyone said someplace where somebody could teach them to ride on a bike they didn’t have to buy and give them the protective equipment they might need to do so.  They might want to try it to see if they like it, but don’t want to spend any money to find out as there are other things they do like and spend money on.  So that passion is not there and was not developed as a kid.  An intesting note, most have no interest in cars wrenching, two didn’t even own cars.  They all thought distracted driving was a problem, but most admitted to doing other things while driving even though they knew it was a bad idea.  The cost of new quality bikes was suprising and pretty much a turn off for many.  The motorcycle culture, which around here is predominantly “Harley-esk”, was also a turn off for the majority and nuetral for most of the rest.  Only one person I talked to thought it was “awesome”, but not enough to ride.  A few people brought up road conditions, which this spring around here are horrendous.  Didn’t seem to be much difference between guys and girls.  So recruiting new riders may require a different strategy than may have worked in the past since the interests seem to be a bit different.  Anyway, there ya go.

Bummer, I missed them at the rally.  Word of mouth can only go so far.

The trend of moving to Facebook is a bummer.  We deleted our accounts, too much crap.  Oh well.

Very good.  We must have left during a dry spell.  We dumped our tanks in the dump out station, then dumped  our fresh water on the far side of the lot (so I didn’t have to drive home a trailer with a half empty sloshing fresh water tank) and the guys loading didn’t have to do it in a pond and hit the road.  I don’t think we hit rain all the way home. Was actually sunny by the time we hit Kalamazoo.

Maybe the weather gods will take cookies and brownies, maybe jerky next  year…

Congrats on the new bike!  The RT is an awesome bike.  But I’m biased…

You’re not too far away from the Rally in Petoskey if you wanted a ride in July (July 6-9).  Nice day trip…

    Welcome!

All signed up and looking forward to it.  Petoskey is an awesome place to be in the summer, great riding, great food, great scenery, good fly fishing.

Is the registration for this open yet?  I thought it was from the magazine but can’t find it on the web site…
