Dave: I haven’t owned either bike, but have ridden them both. Your K100 is a very nice bike, but the newer K1200 is much improved. If you think you could part with the old girl, and you won’t get raked over the coals price wise, I’d go for it. (This coming from a confirmed airhead guy who just upgraded to an oilhead.) Good luck. Rockers: It’s pretty neat when the two BMW rallies are on consecrative week-ends. I know that I would be more willing to go to the west coast for two rallies rather then one. On a selfish note, I really like it when they are both in the central part of of the country. Last year, with the MOA in Tenn., and the RA in W.VA., it worked out great. Just my .02 cents worth. Hey all:This is the first RA rally I have missed since joining the club three years ago. Last year I made both BMW rallies, and while the MOA was bigger, and maybe a bit better organized, the Ra rally was more like a get together with old friends. The vender’s bent over backwards last year to keep everyone happy and the RA tried very hard to see that everything went well. However, due to the very late announcement of the location, I could not make it this year. All I can say is that the RA is like a family picnic while the MOA is more like a corporate outing. Hoping to make it next year. Vaya con Dios, Dutch

Hey all; Amen to that!! Barber motor sports park IS one of the neatest place’s a biker can spend time at. Have been there several times for their vintage bike show, and can’t say enough about the place. sure would like to go their with a bunch of my fellow Beemer riders for a rally.( Hint, hint, hint…..) Ride safe, Vaya con Dios, Dutch

Hey all: I’m sorry, but I don’t see why not having a beer tent would make for a less enjoyable rally. I will admit to being a tea totaler, but being a firefigher/first responder, I have seen more then my fair share of accidents caused by folks who spent too much time in one “beer tent” or the other. Some times I feel like some folks show up to rallies FOR the beer tent, rather then the friendships and riding. Just the opinion of an old fuddy-duddy…Vaya con Dios, Dutch

Hey all: All grumbling aside, does anyone have any idea when an announcement will be made? I would hope it would be in the next month or so, but….I really enjoy the RA rallies, but have to put my vacation request in with in a certain time frame. The earlier the better. Vaya con Dios, Dutch

Hey all: How about Elkhart lake the week-end of the super bike races? That would be cool!! Or maybe held in conjunction with the vintage days at Barber Motor sport park in the fall? Please, please, PLEASE don’t wait months and months to announce the location!! I really enjoy these rallies Vaya con Dios, Dutch

Chronic: I’d think long and hard about this bike. Lots of expensive plastic pieces, not to mention possible frame damage. Have no idea what it would cost to make right, but unless the bike is VERY reasonable, I’d walk away. It could turn out to be a long term project that still wouldn’t be worth what you have into it. Don’t forget, it will have a salvage title that, no matter how professional the repairs, will follow the bike around forever. Just My two cents worth… Vaya con Dios, Dutch

Hi Adam: Can’t figure that out either. With The U.S. one of the (if not THE largest) sportbike markets why wouldn’t you field a first-class team? I admit that the new rules could have something to do with it, but I can’t comment on that. (We’ll have to wait until the first race of the season to see how it will shape up. Let’s hope they change their minds and get involved. Vaya con Dios, Dutch

Hey all; At least two on the monthlys have road tests of the new bike. Both Cycleworld and Rider say that it’s the new class leader in the “liter bike” areana. Comparision tests will follow I’m sure. I’d like to see it in something other then that ugly green though. Perhaps a “factory replical” paint ? Would like to try a test ride on one myself, although I’m a bit beyond the target age… (O.K., ALOT beyond the target age!!) Vaya con Dios, Dutch

Hey all; We plan on stopping at our “local” BMW shop this weekend. Hope to get a look at the new bike. Looking forward to that… As far as Corser goes, Yes, he’s no spring chicken, but he’s not all that long in the tooth either. I think hes got a few good years left, as as an developmental rider, you couldn’t get much better. As far as the electronics go, doesn’t everyone have about the same stuff now? Still waiting for some brave team to go with the BMW for daytona superbike.. Looking forward to this season. Dutch

Hey all: Well this season hasn’t gone quite like we hope, has it? While the team has had several good race’s,they didn’t win any where, and only podiumed once or twice. Privateers have been racing the BMW in several class’s around the country and doing well. Hopefully that will be the push that the corporate offices need to make a full time commitment to AMA racing. It’s likely going to be a tough year in ’11, as Kawasaki has a new liter bike that is going to be really good, and the Suzuki’s will be fast again. Like the old saying goes; wait to next year!!
