Sounds lke I missed a good rally. This is the first RA rally I have missed in a while. I went to Utah rally with that other club. Only the second rally I ever stayed at a motel instead of camp., but I knew it was going to be hot. I was not disapointed. 🙂  Next year in Boise in July. I’m out. I only went to Utah  because that was the last area of the lower 48 that I had not ridden in. I can’t wait to see where we are going next year and when. Oct. in AR was perfect.  The rally in Utah did not break 5000, yet want to bet they don’t change the dates is the future and less people will go the the MOA rallies. Last year at the Buffalo rally I think there were almost as many RV’s as people tenting. Not what I am looking for in a rally.  Go RA…

My local club, the Yankee Beemers, have the same problem. More people use the clubs facebook page than the forum. I confess I too am on facebook more for both clubs. I go to the formun for offical club info only. It’s a sign of the times I guess.

Tours, parade on the track, fantastic riding in the area, partying in the beer tent at knight. So much to do and so little time. Only 5 months to go. Can’t wait..

We had a blast, the area roads are fantastic. Three knights of great music and friends. No rain, and I heard no complaint of showers or lack of port-a-johns. Great job RA staff and the Asheville local club. My only regret is that this was the first time I did not volunteer for anything. Next year.:thumb

“I know the Rally Chair spent her own nickle going to CO to get this rally set up. Things are rarely perfect these days, but the riding at the Rally was world class, even if the coffee was missing. Thank you to Sweetpea and the all-volunteer cadre of the RA. And thank you, RA, for bringing us the great mag that OTL has become. It was a brave effort, and most people do enjoy it. You just cannot please everybody, RA, but what you’re doing pro bono is most appreciated.”

It’s a wonder anyone volunteers at all with all the flack they take. I could not make the RA this year but a lot of my friends did. Where the complants and grips?? Yes but they understood the situation with the ground’s and several told me that the riding more than madeup for any inconvenieces. Do I pine for the good old days, yes I do. I meet Hellman once @ a rally, interesting fellow for sure, and I really enjoyed his articles, but time moves on and IMHO the OTL is so much better today. The RA rallies will never be like the MOA’s and that is not a bad thing. Bigger is not always better, so my wife tells me, and why I like the RA. Enough rants for this week. See you in Ashville.. I don’t know why, but west coast rallies alway seem smaller in numbers than east coast rallies. Two years ago at the MOA rally in Redmond, the little club from Little Rhodie (RI) had more members present than some west coast clubs. I went to the Biltmore rally in 07 and though there were problems, I found it to be one of the better rallies I’ve attended and can’t wait until next year for a return trip. Hopefully the mistakes from the first can be corrected this time around. Last years rally at Chippaw Falls was a really good old fashion type RA rally. The RA will never get the number of vendors as the MOA so get over it. If I want to see vendors go to the MOA rally. That’s what I do, or go on line. Well I guess I have ranted enough for today. I’m going out for a ride. later

Hi BMWphreak. How are things in AZ. The RI club is send about 14 people to the rally, wish I was one of them, not sure how Many YB’s are going. Attended my first board meeting, your old spot. Interesting…The Frost Nutz was a nice balmy 28 degrees the first nite and low 30’s the second. Sure lived up to its name this year. later
