Agreed. One of the best.
But after reading the December editorial, I doubt that we will ever see his work in OTL again.
Kind of wish I had received my copy – but not yet. Maybe soon?
Well how was it? How about a report?
Having owned several makes of bikes I can tell you that from my vantage point BMW people don’t wave at others makes of bikes by and large. Curvy roads might be a reason at the rally but in my experience you could be on a 50 mile long straight away with no other traffic and if you wave at a BMW going the opposite direction from your non BMW you are going to be ignored. BMW owners are much friendlier though when they are broken down with a final drive issue and you stop. At least the guy was when I turned around on my Harley and went back to check on him. He was my new best friend. But he did not wave to me an hour earlier when I passed him going the other way. I don’t know why BMW riders tend not to wave but again in my world thats the way it is. I pretty much wave at any motorcycle when safety concerns permit.
In regard to the gear that is the BMW “uniform” Harley guys want to look like outlaws and BMW guys want to look like European motorcycle cops. Different bike different clothes. The safety gear is a good idea but I do find the day-glo stuff a little odd. But to each their own.
At this stage of the game planning the rally will already be in crunch mode. It’ll be important to have great volunteers to step up to the plate and help make it a success.
All true but like feldis said just tell everyone when and where. If no one knows if they can go and where to go it might make it difficult to commit methinks.
Sept. would be nice.
When does the RA usually announce the location?
Rumors we have. Where is it and when. 😀
What are u gonna do? Fire them?
No its a club, members will vote with their feet if they are disatisfied and not renew. With the two BMW organizations I have belonged to the rally and the magazines or club newsletters appear to be the most important reasons for memebership. For me it is mostly the club newsletters as I have not been able to attend any rallies so far. I really had no desire to attend the other clubs rally when I was a member there but had thought about the RA rallies in the past. That said I was hoping that this year the RA rally would not be an extension of the MOA rally and it might be somewhere I had the time to ride to. I like the idea of a fall rally too but time will tell I guess as to the location, dates, or even if.
Well at least it would be refreshing, from my point of view anyway, not to be following the MOA around this year. Curious where and when.
An announcement would make a nice Christmas present for us. But then again I know it is tough to get anything done around the holidays. The people you need to see are just not around. Maybe the first couple of weeks of the new year? I’m sure the powers that be are working on it.
Thats why u do it in Sept, after the summer but before the foliage.
There you go making sense again. Never get far with that attitude. 😉
Scott I am in the same boat except I did not rejoin over there. I find I did not use the “benefits” so the MOA became a very expensive magazine subscription for a so so newsletter. I really enjoy the OTL – it actually has articles about motorcycles in it. Not as many “what I had for lunch” kinds of things as the “other” newsletter.
Brian – Sent you a PM
I’m guessing water related for sure then. Let us know what you find out from you dealer. Glad you were able to get back on the road. And yeah having your new bike drown out in the rain has got to suck. I see you are from Valley Forge, I grew up in Berwyn -moved away from there a long time ago. Nice country for sure and good riding.
Did it restart after it dried out? Sounds water related but maybe not.
