Greetings, all. Randy here, the camping/medical needs, security chair. We had a site visit this past weekend and I think most folks will like the site. Grass almost everywhere, paved roadways, not many trees, but that’s OK. Usually (!) in northern Michigan it doesn’t get that warm. (go ahead make a liar out of me) The lake is across the road, so we should have some cooling from that. There is an area along the south end ofthe facility that has dirt campsites, some with power, and they are a bit more secluded, but up higher. The rest of the site is pretty flat. For information purposes, there are some barns on site, but they will not be open for camping. The special medical needs area is in the NE corner of the site, with grass and plenty of power outlets. There are other power outlets scattered about the rally site, for those who really need it. One other item to note, there will be NO CAMPFIRES anywhere on the grounds.
Other items of interest – alcohol. there will be a biergarten with a fenced area defining the “premises.” One can purchase beer there, consume it there, and take it out of the area. However, no carry-ions permitted. You can go into town and stock up your campsite and consume it there if you wish.
For those thinking of getting a head start on arriving early to find a good campsite – don’t. We do not take control of the site until Wednesday, July 5th. If you want to get there early, you must be on the set-up volunteer list. That’s the way it is.June 1, 2017 at 1:58 am #64489OldBMWMasterSpectator
Thanks for the update Randy…see you there.June 1, 2017 at 1:58 am #64499
Greetings, all! Your friendly camping chair here. FYI, the state of Michigan wants us to make sure that tents are not within 4(four) feet of each other, to enable folks to get out in case of emergency. So let’s not set up so close. We’ve informed the powers-that-be what a rally is and how it works, and they don’t have a problem with it, but let’s not give them a reason. There should be plenty of room for elbow room. And, yes, you can park your bike by your tent. See you all in a short time!

We’re planning to arrive Wednesday around noon. You said “Don’t arrive early”. What do you consider early? Will we be able to arrive Wednesday noon and set up or is that considered “early”

Those arriving early are those who have volunteered to help set up. The rally doesn’t begin until Thursday morning.
