On Saturday, May 3, the BMW Motorcycle Owners Club of Minnesota will sponsor an accident scene response class. The class will cover the appropriate actions to take when involved in, or encountering, an accident involving motorcycles. The thought is that the more of us who have some training in emergency response, the better off all of us will be.
Mick Niess will conduct the class. He is a member of the New Hope Fire Department with a lot of experience as a first responder. He teaches EMT and firefighting at Hennepin County Technical College. In addition, he is the President of The Red Knights Motorcycle club, a bike club of firefighters with some 17 different Fire Departments represented.
Mick will discuss such things as emergency bone splints, useful info to convey to first responder emergency personnel, how to secure the scene, what not to do.
The class will last about 6 hours, 4 hours in the morning with a break, an hour for lunch and a couple of afternoon hours. It will start at 9:00 AM on May 3. The class will be held at the Hennepin County Public Library at 7001 York in Edina in the large conference room on the second floor. The Library is the white building across from the Target located near Southdale.
The cost is $20.00 per person
