That’s the trip of a lifetime, Dutch. A pity they aren’t as interested in racing in the USA, where they say the superbike market is of great importance. Yet they refuse to sponsor an AMA effort. Watch for privateer Chris Peris and his S1000RR effort at Fontana in So Cal soon.
He’s supported by Iron Horse BMW and Evan Steel Performance out of Tucson. He’s already broken his existing track record at the local track there (GSXR1000) on a stock RR with slicks! USA – the market area for privateer race teams!
Hi Adam: Can’t figure that out either. With The U.S. one of the (if not THE largest) sportbike markets why wouldn’t you field a first-class team? I admit that the new rules could have something to do with it, but I can’t comment on that. (We’ll have to wait until the first race of the season to see how it will shape up. Let’s hope they change their minds and get involved. Vaya con Dios, Dutch
Hey all; It was just posted the other day over on the MOA web site that BMW is going to race the I.O.M. this year. KTM is going to have a factory team there as well. It sound like the European factories are serious about their racing !! I wonder if I could convince the Lil’ woman that a trip to the island would be good for our health? This year in racing could be really interesting!! Vaya con Dios, Dutch
