January 10, 2015 Ohio RA Winter Hotel Camp Out Reserve your room TODAY at the Historic Lafayette Hotel in Marietta! We have a block of rooms (camp sites) held until January 3rd,2015 for RA Members and interested BMW riders who wish to camp out on Saturday night. Call the Lafayette Hotel at 800-331-9336 or 740-373-5522 and reserve your room at our special group rate by mentioning that you are with the BMW Riders Association. Rooms are $49 for a cabin room and $59 for a Queen, plus taxes. The Lafayette Hotel is a Grand Riverboat Era Hotel right on the Ohio River. Tour the city and enjoy it’s many shops, restaurants, antique stores and historic buildings and homes. We will meet in the hotel lobby Saturday evening for fun around the campfire (bring a candle). Again this year, the traditional Sunday morning meeting will be held instead in the lobby on Saturday evening after dinner at around 9 PM to discuss and plan the 2015 riding season as well as the state of the RA on the local and national levels. March 22, 2015 RA Ohio Region Central State Regional Breakfast Meeting will be held at 9:00 AM with the short meeting following at 10:00 AM at the Pioneer Restaurant located at 50 Columbus Rd., Utica, Ohio 43080 (SR 62 just west of SR 13). April 24-26, 2015 RA Ohio Region Spring Camp Out This is our season opener held on the last weekend in April at the Kokosing Valley Camp and Canoe located 1/2 mile west of Millwood, OH (on the south side of US 36 just west of US 62). Camping is $7.50 per person per night tenting or bike pop-ups. We are looking forward to another great year at this location with its comfortable facilities: flush toilets, hot showers, a laundry, volleyball, basketball, baseball, horseshoe pits, and an on site camp store, just to name a few. Restaurants can be found close by in Millwood, Danville and Mt.Vernon. We will be in “Area B” (right across from the Office/Store) and have the picnic shelter. There is water and electric at each site. Camper-trailers will be charged $30 per night, which includes two adults and two minor children admissions. Please register at the camp office upon arrival. The Ohio RA will provide continuous coffee, tea, and hot chocolate. Saturday night, “share a dish if you wish” potluck. Adult beverages are permitted. Excellent riding roads are found in every direction from the campgrounds. Also, nearby is the Kokosing Gap Trail for hikers. June 12-14, 2015 RA Ohio Region Summer Camp Out at Sunset Woods just south of Belleville, OH. If you haven’t attended this event in the past you’re missing a lot of fun and good times with fellow motorcyclists. This is a beautiful location with excellent riding in all directions. The RA will provide coffee, tea, hot chocolate and drinking water as always. There will be a Saturday evening pot luck dinner. A gas grill and stoves are available for your cooking needs. There are several restaurants nearby as well. The donation can and a 50/50 drawing will be utilized to cover rented equipment and other costs for this event. Sunset Woods offers lots of cool shaded camping among the trees or sleep under the stars in the grassy field. There will be Porta Pots, and a hot outdoor shower. Our hosts are Randy and Lynne Beecham and our event co chairs are Marty and Sigrid Sackman. Sunset Woods is located just south of Bellville, Ohio at 6509 Ankneytown Rd. Look for a concrete driveway at the top of the hill on the east side of the road. It will be marked with BMW signs. Please stop and watch for oncoming traffic before you pull into the driveway. Ankneytown Road is 1.3 miles south of the historic gazebo in the middle of Bellville, continue 1.4 miles south on Ankneytown Rd to Sunset Woods. October 23-25, 2015 Ohio RA Halloween Camp Out at Jefferson Lake Sate Park This location worked so well for us last year we’ve decided to go back and do it again. Come early to secure one of the five electric campsites, the other ninety two sites are non electric. Sites cannot be reserved. Cindy and I will be there at least a day ahead to secure an area for the group fire and 10×20 shelter. No fees for this event, just pay for your own camping. Primitive camp sites, pit toilets, water nearby, and a paved road into the campground. All interested BMW riders are invited to this end of season camp out. RA-Ohio coffee, tea, etc. “Bring a dish if you wish” potluck on Saturday evening and more. Ghouls and gobblins welcome. I might just do that. I posted here as a desperate way to save my work as I couldn’t post it to the Ohio Region page. The field I wanted to change said I didn’t have sufficient permission to modify content. Karen is helping me copy it there. I’ve considered posting Ohio RA events beyond the Ohio Region page but didn’t want to bite off more than I could handle. The likely reality is that attendance for a camp out goes from thirty five to forty five or so. No problem really. There’s always plenty of extra space at any of our events. With no local BMW clubs in Ohio advertising a rally or camp out on the RA or MOA calendar it may be time to step it up. Thanks for the suggestion.
