The 2021 edition of the Motorcycle Sport Touring Association’s National Rally, known as STAR, will take place from June13-16 at the Canaan Valley
The 2021 edition of the Motorcycle Sport Touring Association’s National Rally, known as STAR, will take place from June13-16 at the Canaan Valley Resort and Conference Center. The center is located in the northeast section of West Virginia, approximately 12 south of Davis, WV. We have a block of rooms (120 of them) set aside for our usage. In addition, there are 23 2-3-4 bedroom cabins available, and 34 campsites on the park grounds.
This facility seems to have everything needed to make this not only a great motorcycle event, but to also provide families with a wonderful and fun filled vacation opportunity. Not only will this facility serve as a great base from which to ride out and explore all the outstanding roads and trails in West Virginia, it also offers many different outdoor activities for non-riders or for riders wanting to take a break from the road and experience a different activity, or just simply relax.
But most of us will be coming to ride the twisties and explore the mountain roads, both paved and unpaved. West Virginia certainly will not disappoint in that area! No matter what your cup of tea, mountain switchbacks, long sweepers, scenic vistas, country lanes, or dirt roads and single track, you will find it in West Virginia. The best part? It starts right at the entrance to the park! No riding through congested city streets to get to them either, as even the road into the park to the lodge ,the cabins, and campsites is nice. For those wanting a bit more in the way of adventure, we will have several dual-sport routes available too. This area is well known for its opportunities for trail and dirt road riding.
For those wanting a break or coming as a family activity, there is plenty of non-riding activities there too. The resort features both and indoor and outdoor pool, miniature golf and an 18-hole links course (club rental available), horseshoe courts, volleyball, sporting clays and archery, wagon rides, hiking and biking trails (bike rentals on site), a scenic ski lift, and wagon rides. Horseback riding and rafting are also available in the area. Or perhaps you just wish to sit around one of the many firepits and relax? Take a walk around the park and enjoy the views? You can do that too!
We will have our traditional schedule at STAR. Sunday evening will feature a welcome ceremony and meet-up in the lodge area. Monday evening is set aside for the members meeting. Tuesday evening there will be seminars. Wednesday evening the rally will close with a banquet. All evenings will give us ample opportunity to visit the onsite vendors. We are hoping to once again be able to have motorcycle demo rides, but that is still up in the air right now.
Don’t worry about going hungry either. The lodge features a main restaurant, a full-service lounge with local craft beers on tap, and a quick serve shop where you can purchase lighter fare to go or to eat there. We also have some other ideas about evening meals that we are going to pursue. All the cabins feature a fully equipped full kitchen for those going that route too.
It is shaping up to be one of our most memorable STARS and you are not going to want to miss it!
We have set up a Facebook Group dedicated just to STAR, you can find it at MSTA-STAR 2021, Canaan Valley, WV. We will post updates there and on our website (www.ridemsta.com) as we get them. You can register for the event at www.planetreg.com/STAR2021. Registration will open up in January 2021. When you get registered you will find a link and a code to use when reserving your room or cabin. Follow the instructions on the registration website. The 34 campsites will be available on a first come-first serve basis. They can accommodate motorhomes in the parking lots at the lodge. You will need to call the resort directly to set those up.
Like all of our events, MSTA membership is not required to attend.
