Presidents’ Day Weekend?

BMWCOSC
February 13-15, 2010 Presidents’ Day Weekend? When? Well maybe but that’s besides the point. The IMPORTANT point is that this is the first holiday weekend in 2010 and we’ll be going to a very popular destination, so you need to make reservations early! Even if you aren’t sure you can attend call and make your reservations NOW you can always cancel later but Santa Cruz is very popular and the reasonable motels will fill quickly. This trip will be a little different from most of our weekend rides. Bruce O’Reilly has planned an interesting and unusual set of destinations and activities so there is much more than just a good motorbike ride. We’ll have the van and motorcycle trailer so passengers don’t have to worry about the weather, they can always hitch a ride in the warm dry van. The plan is to head for Parkfield, the earthquake capitol of the world, on Saturday where we’ll rock and roll at the V6 Ranch and have lunch in a dining room that looks like something out of the Old West. Day two will find us in making a quick stop at Pinnacles National Monument, picking up some fresh garlic in Gilroy—the garlic capitol of the world— having lunch at the Tyrolean Inn a quaint German restaurant in Ben Lomond. After a leisurely ride through the red woods we’ll stop in Felton to visit a covered bridge and, time permitting, go to Roaring Camp as it has an old steam engine train ride that trundles through the redwood trees. Monday will be a travel day and we’ll probably head on home via the 101 so that everyone can get back at a reasonable hour. We’ll depart Saturday morning from Denny’s Restaurant in Sylmar just off Roxford and the 5 Fwy staying Saturday night at the Best Western Black Oak Motor Lodge (1135 24th St. Paso Robles, CA 93446 (805)238-4740 AAA rate $100/2 persons) and Sunday (Sept 14th) at the Best Western Capitola By-the-Sea Inn & Suites, (1435 41st Avenue, Capitola 95010 (831) 477-0607) $128 for 2 with 7 day advance purchase. As weather conditions may be iffy in February it is very important you RSVP if you think you might want to go, so that we can keep you updated on any changes. Go to the club site and let us know you are coming. http://www.bmwcosc.com/Pages/ridearchive10/2-13-15-10/2-13-15-10_ride.html So don’t delay February will be here sooner then you think and you won’t want to miss the first trip of 2010.

Listing your rally

If it is in the interest of motorcyclists, we will list the event, but you've got to tell us about it! The best way is to submit the information here, and as soon as it's reviewed, it'll show up on the map. Alternatively, but slower:

  • contact us using the "Rallymap" address
  • Fax it to (478) 474-6015
  • Mail it to James Allmond, Rally-Map, 640 Forest Lake Drive North, Macon, GA, 31210-3206

Rally-Map is a free service for all BMW Clubs. Please limit to 90 words or less. Material may be edited. Deadline is the 12th of the month prior to issue month. No files over 2MB. And, as always, if you don't name your event, I will.
