New Editor of OTL mag......

I left the RA when Will was forced out of office by the powers that be and replaced with GS Jane.I didn't care for the direction the magazine took.I'm not surprised that GS Jane is being replaced but who's now taking over the mag? Where can i find out about his background and his direction of the mag moving forward? I'd still be a member if will was still the editor and i won't return unless someone attempts to follow in will's footsteps.the powers that be wrecked a very fine magazine and turned it into a non issue.Sheesh, the moa magazine reads better than the OTL mag.

Re: New Editor of OTL mag......

I am new here, so I have no opinion on what the older magazine was like, or what kind of job the former editor(s) did.  I like what I have seen of the OTL in the previews online and am confident that I wil enjoy the rest of the magazine as well.

I see the BMWRA as a club that promotes RIDING, not as a club dedicated primarily to putting out a MAGAZINE. I hope to get much more out of my membership than just a magazine. If i was not confident that would be the case, I would not have joined.

This not a criticism.....just an observation.

Re: New Editor of OTL mag......

It is a product of the times - things change.

Will did a good job. He stepped into a mess after Robert died, because there was no blue print to follow, so he had to make his own way in learning how to be the Editor of a Club Magazine. Will stated several times that he would not be the Editor forever; however, he would leave a "Blue Print" for other Editors to follow.

Will departed, why I don't know, it is Will's responsibility to say why (if he chooses). GS Jane stepped up to the plate and assumed the reins. She did a VERY good job, she brought in some new names as contributing editors with articles. Yes, many of them were women riders. All were/are very accomplished riders and eloquent writers. There were some complaining by MEN members about "WOMEN" writers. Really? Get over it. The women were not writing articles about how to make a cake. They were  writing articles about riding BMW's , for crying out loud.      Everyone forgets that Will announced that he was going to focus on racing - like it or not - when he took over as Editor.

Well, every Editor has to find their own way when they take over. Will did and Jane did and this new fellow will follow in their foot steps as he goes along.

Re: New Editor of OTL mag......

Thanks for checking in, everyone. If you haven't received the new Jan/Feb 2019 issue of OTL, the new editor is John M. Flores. John has an impressive writing and riding resume, including writing several photography books and periodically scribing for RoadRUNNER magazine and BMW Owners News.

John not only writes well, but also is a digital marketing expert. We believe these combination of skills will be important for the RA to retain our current member base and attract new, younger riders.

You can communicate with John at or on our Facebook clubhouse (https://www.facebook.com/groups/bmwridersassociation/?ref=bookmarks).

Alternatively, if you have any questions, you can reach me directly at

Thanks for being members.
