Hello everyone.  My name is Patrick Mogavero, and I am the national Vice President for the Motorcycle Sport Touring Association (MSTA].  We have recently begun a relationship with the BMWRA and have applied for a charter with your club.  We are also chartered with the AMA.  We have been in existence as a national club since 1982.  It is our/my hope that by working together the BMWRA and MSTA will be able to come up with ways to grow this fantastic sport/hobby that so many of us have loved for so long.  The two clubs have many similarities.  Our average ages are about the same, most of our members are multi-bike owners, our emphasis is on RIDING, we both help to organize/sponsor one National event per year and many regional events, we are both passionate about Motorcycles and the people that ride them.  Our emphasis is on “sport-tourimg”, but we have many members that also ride dirt, DS, road racing, etc.  We have more than 20 of our 1200 members that are already members of the RA and probably 1/3rd or more of our club ride their BMW’s as their main bike.  Myself, I do not own a BMW, but I have rented/riden several models and am a fan of the brand.  I do have a BMW/Mini Cooper....does that count? LOL

i look forward to meeting many of you in the future at events and to conversing with you on this forum.  I invite you to check out our website and forum too.  We also have a national Facebook page for those that participate there.

i am very optimistic and excited about what the future may hold for both of our organizations as we work together and build a strong bond...2 seperate organizations witn shared values and shared goals of growing and prospering while  serving our members.  Cheers!

Patrick Mogavero,  MSTA VP

Re: New group member

Great to hear!  I am a member of both.  I have thought for some time that the whole format of the club doesn't address the deteriorating health of the motorcycle industry.  You might take a step further and discontinue the publishing business since the MOA magazine and the OTL have alot in common.  It would be better, due to the bad metrics of the publishing business, if both the MSTA and the RA talked to someone like Road Runner Motorcycle Touring and Travel about a partnership.  They could produce a version of their excellent magazine with a section for clubs and club specific topics.  Don't get me wrong, the OTL is a greatly improved magazine but the publishing industry is not what we should be in due to the costs and time requirements.  Both clubs would benefit and Road Runner as well with increased subscribeship.

Social media would still be a format to personalize each club with timely comments, scheduled events and ride reports.

Welcome Patrick. It would seem that a partnership would be a good strategy. I am looking forward to more volunteering effort put into the RA and MSTA as a result

Thank you JF and AZ.

Groups working together is almost always a good thing!  I’m sure it will be in this case too.
