Sidecar Ride

I have been talking with people on some other boards and they are interested in doing some riding with their sidecars while they are at the RA rally so I have offered to host and lead a sidecar ride on Saturday the 16th. The plan is to meet for breakfast in Edwards, CO which is about 30 miles West of Copper Mountain on Interstate 70. Meet time for breakfast will be at 08:00 and departure time will be planned at 09:00. The restaurant opens at 07:30 and I will probably be there at that time for anyone else who is up early. There are plenty of other rides already setup for the 2 wheelers so I thought it would be nice to do something special for the 3 wheeled folks at the rally and this ride will really be geared to the sidecar crowd.

The ride will be right at 200 miles portal to portal from Copper Mountain and will consist of gravel and 2 lane paved roads. All roads are easily ridden on street bikes and are well maintained roads so they are doable on any sidecar rig with no problems. There will be ample stops for sightseeing and rest breaks and I have a particularly eclectic lunch stop in mind. For those who do not want to do the full ride there are a couple of easy bail out points to get you back to the Interstate so you do not have to commit to the whole ride if you do not want to. This is intended as a leisurely and scenic back country ride and it will put you back at Copper Mountain in plenty of time to clean up and get ready for the Saturday evening festivities.

I live in Edwards so I am only 30 miles from Copper Mountain but I do have to work that Thursday and Friday since I am taking the month of July off to ride up to Alaska so I will just be riding over to the rally after work. I am not sure of the best way to get together ahead of time but if there are any sidecarists attending the rally and you are interested please feel free to pm me through the board.

Thanks and I hope to be riding with some of you as I know there will be some fellow sidecarists attending.

I have it laid out so that you can opt out a few places but I plan on keeping it as relaxed and easy as possible with plenty of sightseeing/rest breaks so it will be easy to hang for the whole ride. I don't really expect to hear from more than a few rigs that want to ride but you never know how many sidecars will be around the rally.

This year I am not taking the side car rig to the rally.

I am not sure how to get in touch with all of the sidecar riders at the rally and since I don't have the time off to spend much time onsite I will make up a few flyers for the ride and see if they will let me leave them somewhere around the registration area. I will have the meetup location and time for breakfast and also my phone number on the flyers so that any interested parties can meet up with us for the ride.

I think that's a good plan. I'm sure registration will be fine with it.
