Parking in the city of Asheville

Welcome to our beautiful city. However, just a warning about parking in the city of Asheville and in the parking garages. Asheville is not a parking friendly city. If you park in any of the areas marked with diagonal lines that are not "official" parking spots in any of the parking garages you will be ticketed. It took them about 10 minutes after I had left my bike and walked to work to hit me with a $10 fine when I tried to save them a parking spot for a four wheeled vehicle. I had even asked the parking attendant the day before I rode to work where I should park the bike, whether they had designated parking spots and was told to park in one of those areas. Do not believe them..they are just looking for revenue for the city. So be very careful where you park around town.

Also parking is a challenge in Gatlinburg. I avoid going there anymore, it's just too expensive to park.
