Colorado Region

Hello to all RA members in the Colorado region. As there are no post here, (hate to see a blank "chalkboard") how about a maintenance post?

This has been our first winter in Colorado (retired moved from Louisiana) don't know exactly what to expect of Spring. However, the weather is starting to moderate a bit and I've started the pre-riding season maintenance on my machines. The K1200LT is apart for the yearly maintenance (no small feat removing the plastic), such as brake-clutch fluids, coolant, air filter, trans-rear drive (trying to forstall the failure)-engine oils, new battery, new Wilber's, etc.. Have a few more things yet to do before the annual "test" run.

Now if I can just remember where I put that ignition key Wink

Greetings, Radar!

Always nice to hear about another rider doing their own maintenance! I'm lucky in that my GS is pretty much naked compared to your LT, but I think I can imagine what it must be like to tear off all that bodywork.

Yes, the GS would be a lot easier to work on. My "bestest" riding buddy likes the comfort of the LT so we will stick with it. About doing your own maintenance. There are drawbacks, the time envolved of course, then days like today . . . . one of those one step forward and two back events!:)

WOW!! An 02 with only 2400 miles????

My suggestion would be to do some research to determine a fair price. Then advertise it on this forum, IBMWR, & MOA. The LT's are fine machines. Personally, I would want to know why such low miles for an 02???

Good luck,

radar:)

The low miles are caused by old age. this ole boy thought he wanted the bike and than got sick so he rode very little than his brother bought the bike from him and never rode it now he just wants to sell it to retrive his money or at least some of it.The bike is in supreme cond. and has two helmets with radio controls, this bike is ,in my opinion is beautiful, how ever I ride a Harley. We are trying to figure out what this bike is worth..

First post. Just wanted to look in and say Hello. By my screen name you could probably guess-- my ride is a leggy, naked German with a dirty mind. I like spending money on her.

Re: Colorado Region

Well, I'll be the first to post Colorado Region 2015!

This Fall/Winter has been a GREAT one for riding.  It seems (personal opinion & not scientific) that only the last few months have had bad enough weather to keep my 2 buddies in the garage.

Just this past Monday I took a great spin out from Ken Caryl area up Deer Creek Canyon down to Reynolds Park, then down Hwy 96 past Dome Rock and runs along the S Platte River..... Then up and over to Rampart Range & back home from Sedalia up Hwy 85.  What a GREAT ride, about 2.5 hrs for the total loop.

Really got my juices flowing for some camping and only further debate about heading down to Phoenix for the Overland Expo.  Now I just need to hold off on adding anything else to my bike.  I found if I'm riding... I can't be spending...  (At least that's what I tell my wife when I'm doing "drive-bys" over to Denver BMW)!

Anyone done Guanella Pass recently?  The south side of the pass down to Grant has been greatly improved!  Really like it.  Actually went nose to nose with a Moose last fall!  It was great to see.  For those of you who know the pass, coming from the Georgetown side, right at the Xcel Energy sub-station between Clear Lake & Lower Creek Res is where I saw him.  Still wet with a dripping chin, he was meandering across the road back up the mountain.

Man do I love this place!

Re: Colorado Region

First off, Hello Radar!

I thought that might be you when I opened up this forum! Since we are both members of the RA - we just need one more person to come to the "iron eagle" side and get RMMRC as a Chartered club!

I just picked up my 2016 800 GS from getting some new spring accessories - including Hyperlights, Altrider upper crash bars and Black Dog front accessory lights. Got the 12,000 mile service done too, so ready to rock and roll!

See you on some rides!
